The Case Against Staying on Haad Rin
Noise and crowds, before and after
Haad Rin during Full Moon Party week is loud, crowded, and not in good condition by the morning after. The beach itself is packed with vendors, sound systems, and revellers from sunset until well past dawn. Staying within earshot means you're part of that environment whether you want to be or not.
Accommodation quality drops
Every guesthouse and hotel near Haad Rin raises prices significantly around Full Moon Party dates — sometimes 3-4x the normal rate. The same money buys substantially worse accommodation than anywhere else on the island. You're paying for proximity, not quality.
No recovery space
The morning after the Full Moon Party, Haad Rin is the worst place on the island to be. Your options are a small guesthouse room or a crowded beach. Neither is a recovery environment.
The Case for a Villa 30 Minutes Away

Pre-party logistics are better
Villa La Favela sleeps 8 across 4 bedrooms. The 2 kitchens allow your group to eat and pre-drink together without going out. The Sonos sound system and pool mean the pre-party is better than any bar near Haad Rin.
The morning after is actually enjoyable
Swimming in the infinity pool at 10 AM with the Gulf of Thailand in front of you, no noise, and a kitchen stocked with food — this is the Full Moon Party recovery environment. The pool alone makes the 30-minute taxi ride back from Haad Rin completely worth it.
The price arithmetic works out
Even at Full Moon Party premium pricing, Haad Rin guesthouses often charge ฿2,000-4,000 per person per night for a basic room. At Villa La Favela, the direct booking rate split across 8 people works out to under ฿3,000 per person per night — for a luxury villa with a private pool.
Logistics: Getting to Haad Rin from Haad Salad
The drive from Haad Salad to Haad Rin is approximately 30 minutes by car.
Getting there:
- Scooter: the most flexible option. Park near Haad Rin village and walk to the beach. Be aware that drink-driving on scooters is genuinely dangerous and heavily policed on Full Moon Party night.
- Shared taxi: songthaews run to Haad Rin from Thong Sala before the party for around 150-200 THB per person.
- Private taxi: book in advance for a group through the on-site manager. Cleaner, easier, and fixed price.
Getting back:
This is the critical part. Pre-book a private taxi back to Haad Salad for approximately 4-6 AM. The on-site manager at Villa La Favela (Pearl Properties) can arrange this — do it via WhatsApp before you go. Don't assume you'll find a taxi at 5 AM.
