Haad Salad sits on Koh Phangan's quieter northwest coast — about as far from Haad Rin's Full Moon Party scene as you can get on the island. The bay is sheltered by headlands at both ends, which keeps the water flat and the wind low. There is no surf, no jet skis, no clubs and no resort blasting music until midnight. The beach itself is a five-minute walk down the hill from the villa: white sand, calm shallow swimming, a few low-key beachfront cafes, and longtail boats you can charter for snorkelling trips. For families travelling with grandparents or young children, this combination of safety and quiet is rare on a popular Thai island.
What's actually included for families
The villa is set up for groups, not couples. Beach towels are provided (you don't have to pack them), snorkelling gear is on-site, the outdoor dining table seats eight, and there is a washer for the inevitable mid-trip laundry. Both kitchens are fully equipped — full-size fridges, induction hobs, ovens, blenders, kettles, full Western and Thai cookware — so you can self-cater for a week without making a supermarket run every day. The pool deck is fully gated with no shared access, which means children can run freely without strangers walking through. We don't stock car seats or high chairs at the villa, but both can be rented from Thong Sala town and dropped off at the villa with your transfer.
The two-kitchen advantage
Most villas in this size class have one kitchen. La Favela has two — one main kitchen on the upper level and a second prep kitchen on the lower level. For multi-generational groups (grandparents + parents + kids) or two families sharing the villa, this is the difference between a relaxed week and a logistical mess. One family cooks breakfast upstairs, the other prepares lunch downstairs. Coffee at 6am for the early risers doesn't wake the late sleepers. It sounds like a small detail, but families who book us back are almost always citing this.
A typical family week at Villa La Favela
Most families settle into a similar rhythm. Mornings start slow on the pool terrace — coffee, breakfast made in-villa, kids in the pool by 9. Late morning is beach time at Haad Salad: 5 minutes on foot, calm swimming, a cafe lunch on the sand. Afternoons split between the pool and an excursion: longtail boat trip to Bottle Beach (Haad Khuat), Thong Nai Pan for the day, or a snorkelling trip from the villa's beach. We can arrange a private chef for one or two dinners during the week (typically ฿2,500 per dinner for the group). The Full Moon Party at Haad Rin is 30 minutes by taxi if older kids want to attend once — the rest of the week the villa is far enough away that you'd never know it was on.

“We really had an amazing stay. The villa is beautifully decorated, the beds wonderful, the view stunning. Nothing is missing, everything has really been thought of (water tap that purifies the water, washing machine, wine cabinet etc.). Also the communication with Charlotte was super.
